I became interested in care quite early on in life. In fact, I was only 14 years old when I completed a care experience course at high school and that inspired me to consider care as my career.
The course involved visiting a local care home over a period of a month. During that time, I was able to interact with the staff, get to know some of the residents. I felt that if I worked in care, I could make a positive difference to the residents.
Once I finished high school I applied for college for a Health and Social Care course. When I had completed the course, I started my first actual care job as a Support Worker- I was so happy to be working in care!
As time went on, I learned so much in the care home sector, completed lots of training, raised my skill level and progressed up the care ladder, I worked my way up to Senior Health Care Worker.
It was then that I made a move over to working in the community. Again, I worked my way from Care assistant to Field Care Supervisor then to Care Coordinator.
Now I am loving my post with Nightingale Home care as their care coordinator where I hope I can fulfil my remit of supporting both clients and staff to the best of my abilities!
