April 11, 2022How Do Our Comprehensive Home Care Services Ensure Your Safety Against Covid-19?
As you’ll be aware, the vaccination program has been a success here in Scotland and across the UK. With many of the rules being relaxed on 21st March 2022, we wanted to outline the measures we’ll continue to adopt in these uncertain times. We understand you may still be concerned about Covid-19 when receiving home care.
You may be reassured to hear that every member of the Nightingale Home Care team is committed to providing personalised care, with the least possible health risk. Continue reading to learn about the precautions our family-run team is taking to keep you or a relative safe as we move forward.
Committed to Covid Prevention
Nightingale Home Care’s staff recognise the importance of staying up-to-date on national
health and social care laws and guidance. We receive regular updates from Public Health Scotland, ensuring that our extensive library of policies and procedures is adjusted accordingly. We also check the Scottish Government’s website, referring to the Covid-19 page for updates on general mitigation measures and new response strategies for the adult social services we provide.
Government Guidance
We follow the Scottish Government’s safety guidance to minimise the risk of coronavirus exposure. This includes undertaking all of the practical measures recommended to avoid the infection and spread of coronavirus. We then follow the regularly updated Covid-19 guidance provided on the PHS website. It’s all part of offering the very best home care.
Health and Safety Training
All of our home care staff are given comprehensive health and safety training. This includes the latest measures being shared through the Quality System App. Dedicated to providing the very best home care, they share our commitment to Covid-19 testing and follow guidance on isolation regarding vulnerable clients. The level of close face-to-face contact is minimised and strict infection control standards are maintained during home care provision.
Additional Measures
Thorough risk assessments are carried out, with appropriate measures being taken for you or your loved one’s welfare. We care about your well-being at all times.
That’s why we also adopt the following measures for the protection of you and our staff:
- Encouraging and monitoring the uptake of vaccines and boosters in line with national guidance
- Taking regular lateral flow tests
- Maximising good ventilation wherever possible
- Maintaining a large stock of PPE (including masks), which we continue to wear when delivering personal care within you or your loved one’s home
- Following the guidance on self-isolating and booking a test
- Washing our hands regularly, with the nose and mouth being covered if coughing or sneezing.
