My name is Pauline and I am a Personal Home Care Assistant with Nightingale Home Care. I’ve worked with Nightingale since May 2023. I’d recommend Nightingale to people seeking a role in home care. I came to the UK on a Certificate of Sponsorship and switching to Nightingale was one of the best decisions I have ever made
Nightingale went the extra mile for me in everything even by helping me to secure suitable housing for my family and I. Nightingale treat you as family, which you can’t say for a lot of employers.
I enjoy ongoing training as part of my job. I like that I can advance my skills as a care professional, and begin to provide wraparound support to people with more intensive needs.
I enjoy my job with Nightingale and view it as a long term career path. As a mother, a key aspect of any role for me is flexibility. I need to be there for my kids when they need me, whether that be in an emergency, on sports day or on special occasions. Nightingale work closely with me to ensure my role fits around my family life. I feel my life is well balanced and happier because of that.
One of the things I enjoy most about the day-to-day aspects of the role is the relationships I build with our clients. As much as possible, Nightingale keep me with the same clients and I get the chance to build close relationships with them. They look forward to my visits.
I’m not just there to do a job; to give medication or prepare food. I am there to care. Care must be carried out with kindness, consideration and a gentle patience for the client. I take time to chat with my clients and get to know them. They enjoy telling me about their fondest memories, their beloved children and their hobbies. Many of our clients are vulnerable adults, and it’s important for them to know we are there to fully support them to live fulfilled lives and happy lives.
I feel appreciated by the management of Nightingale for the work I do. I enjoy the good feedback that comes from clients and their families.
I like that Nightingale make innovative use of technology via their mobile app. We, as team members, use this to record notes of our visits, which are immediately available to view by family members. This gives clients’ families the reassurance of knowing what kind of care they have received and when. The app also allows us to quickly escalate any concerns, say, if the client was unwell or not home as expected.
